We Create Something New

Home to reptiles from every continent and birds from all across Africa, Akamba Tropical house provides visitors with a fun, educational and interactive experience. The beautifully landscaped aviary offers you the chance to walk amongst free flying birds from all across the African continent. You may even be greeted by some of our friendly hand reared birds, who often enjoy perching on the odd passer-by!! Then enter our reptile house, to encounter a whole host of invertebrates, amphibians and reptiles from all over the world. Learn about and be inspired by our amazing animals!

Our Tropical House is located within the grounds of Akamba Garden centre and Tribe Eatery restaurant. With the addition of a beach for the children to play on, our facilities provide everything you need for a fun, exciting and educational day out!

Unfortunately, we live in a world where much of the biodiversity is threatened with extinction. Having forged strong links with Africa, its people and wildlife, conservation is at the very heart of Akamba. Working in connection with Nature Kenya, Akamba actively contributes to a number of wildlife conservation projects in East Africa. Meanwhile, back in the UK, Akamba Tropical House focuses on raising awareness of wildlife conservation issues through tailored educational workshops.

Wherever possible, our animal keepers aim to offer informative presentations and handling opportunities, however, during busy periods this may not always be possible. Therefore, if you would like a guaranteed handling experience and keeper presentation, you are welcome to book privately.
